Professional Ant
Control in Kerala
Ant infestations are among the most persistent household problems in Kerala. A mature colony can contain hundreds of thousands of workers, forage across large distances from a central nest, and establish satellite colonies inside wall voids, under flooring, and within structural timber. The trail of ants visible in a kitchen represents a small fraction of the population — the vast majority remains hidden, protected, and completely unaffected by surface sprays.
Kerala Pest Solutions provides targeted ant control for homes, food businesses, and commercial properties across Trivandrum and Kollam. Our methods address the colony rather than the foragers, because eliminating only the ants you can see guarantees the problem returns within days.

Scientific Classification
Species Identification Guide

Black Garden Ant
Most common in Kerala homes. Nests outdoors in soil or under paving, forages indoors for sugar and starch. Trails in kitchens, pantries, and around waste bins.

Red Fire Ant
HazardIncreasingly prevalent across Kerala. Delivers a painful sting that can cause anaphylactic reactions. Do not disturb a mound — contact us immediately for treatment.

Carpenter Ant
Excavates timber to create nesting galleries. Prefers moist, ageing wood but expands into sound structural timber. Requires immediate professional treatment.

Pharaoh Ant
Small, yellow ant found in healthcare and food environments. Colonies split (bud) when disturbed by repellent sprays, spreading the infestation. Gel bait is the only effective treatment.
Why Repellent Sprays Make Ant Infestations Worse
Standard over-the-counter sprays are repellent: they kill ants on contact but create a chemical barrier that ants detect and avoid. The colony remains intact and foraging is merely redirected to new routes. In multi-room properties, repellent sprays cause the colony to relocate deeper into the structure.
The “Budding” Phenomenon
For Pharaoh ants specifically, repellent sprays trigger budding — the colony splits into multiple sub-colonies that disperse throughout the building. A single Pharaoh ant colony treated with repellent spray can become ten colonies within weeks. This is the most common reason repeated DIY treatment makes ant infestations worse over time.
Our Science-First Approach
Kerala Pest Solutions exclusively uses non-repellent formulations. Ants cannot detect the active ingredient, so they cross treated zones, consume or contact the bait, and carry it back to the queen — eliminating the entire colony from within.
- No Detection Barrier
- Trophallaxis Transfer
- Colony Erasure
Applied Methodologies

Non-Repellent Gel Bait
Small dots of non-repellent gel bait are placed along foraging trails. Workers share it through trophallaxis, eliminating the queen over 7–14 days. Odourless and safe in food prep areas.

Perimeter Shielding
For outdoor ant control, we apply a non-repellent residual spray. Ants carry the active ingredient back to the nest, preventing new foraging routes.

Direct Nest Treatment
Where nests are accessible in soil or under paving, we apply a direct drench for immediate colony elimination. Primary for fire ant mounds.
Ant Protocol Checklist
Inspection: species identification, trail mapping, nest location
Non-repellent gel bait applied at harborage and trail points
Non-repellent perimeter spray as required
Direct nest treatment where accessible
Written sealing and sanitation recommendations
Follow-up visit confirming colony elimination
Food Business Compliance
Any ant species in a food preparation area is a contamination risk and FSSAI concern. Our gel bait protocol is safe in active commercial kitchens with no operational downtime, and service documentation is provided as standard.
Zero Downtime
Treatments integrated into active kitchen operations.
Audit Ready
Full documentation for FSSAI and health inspections.
Home Prevention Tips
Store sugar, honey, and ripe fruit in sealed containers
Seal gaps around plumbing with silicone
Wipe down surfaces after food prep to remove trails
Fix water leaks promptly — moisture attracts ants
Safety Information
Gel bait is safe in occupied homes and active kitchens. Applied in small quantities at concealed locations. No evacuation required. Perimeter sprays require 30 to 60 minutes drying time before re-entry.
